My last article in this series, "Onward, Christian Soldier," concluded by emphasizing the early followers of Jesus were known as "The disciples Lane. "The word is in this context means to comply, comply, comply, obey, to be guided by, or is based on, observe be careful, mind, accept, reflect, mirror, echo, imitate, join a. The lifestyle of the disciples of Jesus recognizable to those around them. They were name calling as disciples of Jesus of Nazareth, so that it imitates all kinds. This is offensive to many Jews. With a rigid and narrow life to fill, it is not surprising that most Christians are believers in Christ, not followers him.
The disciples of Jesus were called Christians Gentiles:
"When the Christian movement came to Antioch in Syria, the Gospel has been preached to Gentiles and Jews. Such was the cult evangelism more than one new type Judaism, a new religion. The Gentiles at Antioch coined a name for the new group. As group members talked constantly of Christ were called Christians, which means "house" or "supporters" of Christ. "
The historical context of the term "Christian" and implies that related tags at a relatively early period, people clearly recognize something that non-Jews on the road. It is unlikely that the Gentiles who knew the meaning of the Jewish Christos word 'Messiah'. It was not until the early second century that Christians began with some regularity to use the term as a self-designation.
This is my brief description of the term "Christian" in a historical perspective. Following this series I am going to confront the process of indoctrination of new Christians.
