Older people who follow God deserve a great honor. While our culture values very young, according to Proverbs 16:31, a gray hair older person is a crown of glory, if the person is living a righteous life.
What is honor? Honor means to treat with respect or favor. Why should we pay tribute to seniors? Honoring the elderly is not just a matter of good manners, according to the rules of society. Honoring our elders is a law of God, is recorded in Leviticus 7:32 p.m.:
"32Rise in the presence of respect for age, show the elderly and fear thy God. I am the Lord. "(NIV)
Therefore, the reason why we should honor the elderly because God commands us to do.
Another reason we honor those higher because of his wisdom, they have had years of experience. Had time to see the effects of good and evil and have learned to see the results likely decisions. They quickly learned to make good decisions about their experiences of poor judgments and learn from their mistakes. Physical exercise causes physical force. Similarly, the exercise of the senses led to discern good and evil spiritual force that is on older people who obey God.
One of the 10 Commandments is to honor our father and mother. In I Timothy 5:1-2, the apostle Paul instructed the young evangelist Timothy that he should not reprimand a man more old and must be treated as if older women were mothers.
"1Rebuke not an elder, but pray for him as a father and young brothers as
2The older women as mothers, younger as sisters, with absolute purity. "(KJV)
An example of how a young man older man is honored in Job 32:1-7.
"1SO these three men ceased to answer Job, because he was right in his own eyes.
2Then the wrath of Elihu, Buzite Baraquel son, the family of Ram: against Job was His anger was kindled because he justified himself rather than God.
3Also against his three friends was rejected anger because they had not answered, and yet had condemned Job.
4Now Elihu had waited till Job had spoken, because they were older than him.
5 When Elihu saw that there was no answer in the mouth of these three men, then his wrath was kindled.
6 And Elihu the son of Baraquel said Buzite and said, I'm young, and you are very old, I was afraid, and dared not show you mine opinion.

According to Adam Clarke Commentary, there was no doubt a great disparity of age between Elihu and Job and his three friends. The older generation is presumed to have more wisdom than younger individuals. Elihu said former generation should teach wisdom.
One way seniors can teach wisdom is a good example. By the desire to learn humility, and honor the elderly, who can better play its role in teaching young people more directly, as described in Titus 2:1-5:
"1GOAL you talk to sound doctrine:
2IN men be sober, serious, sensible, sound in faith, charity, in patience.
3The women also to be respectful in their behavior should not slanderers, not given to wine, teachers the property;
4That to teach young women to be sober, to love their husbands, their children love,
The 5th to be discreet, chaste, homemakers, good, obedient to their husbands, that the word of God be not blasphemed. "(KJV)
In today's society, the elderly are often not treated with the respect they deserve. In fact, we read many stories the newspaper on the crime of abuse Elder. However, during the millennial reign of Jesus Christ, the elderly are treated with honor and respect as sown in Zechariah 8:4-5:
"4Thus says the LORD of hosts: Do not, however, older women and older people living in the streets of Jerusalem, each with his staff in his hand for him.
5 And the streets of the city is full of children playing in the streets thereof. "(KJV)
In the United God, parents teach their children to respect their elders. Children and adults to live in peace in Jerusalem.
Seniors deserving honor to serve God today, tomorrow and every day.
