Bullock pens a sweet, romantic inspiration, historical American "foreign Christmas." Rich in establishment, this story of a postmistress of Missouri is catching the Christmas spirit and reminds us why, today, Christmas is so important.

The story is set in 19th century America and opens with a violent snowstorm that surrounds the small Town of Primrose, Missouri. Melinda Jane Frazier is the postmistress City and lives alone. His father, who had supported, has died. In winter, the wind howled, she heard a shot. Answering the door with a gun in hand, she discovers a vagrant named Zeke, and his son, Timothy, in need of shelter. Melinda takes in. When the storm subsided, a grateful Zeke Melinda offers to help around the farm. Zeke will live in the hut near the house. Timothy, who is seven, also installed on, helping his father do his homework. Since Christmas is here, Zeke and Timothy stay with Melinda during the holidays. Timothy Primrose make new friends, and grows to admire Melinda Zeke. After the holidays, Zeke, unnerved by the growing intensity of his feelings for Melinda, returns to his wandering way and leaves. Only time will tell if Zeke can find its way back to Melinda.

Bullock style easy to read and holds the reader. His descriptions are vivid and rich in detail, placing the smells of the kitchen, helping to capture the authenticity of the story. His dialogue and character accents are well done and gives the reader an idea of the time.

Zeke and Melinda are well developed characters and the reader can easily understand their motivations. Zeke is an honest man of heart, but must balance their need to travel with the desire of a family. In this regard, Melinda offers Bible of his father, who can be inspired. Not prone to reading the Bible, after a disturbing encounter with Zeke has the daughter of a farmer, will help draw strength decision making.
