Psalm 2 is the second part of the reputation of the introduction of Psalms (with Psalm 1). Both PSS. 1 and 2 overlap each other, Ps 2 Lord is the answer contempt mocking nations (the kings of those who think they rule) that the Messiah is the true king of all creation. But it has all the power of sovereignty.
Structure: What are the effects of salt?
commonly accepted structure of 4 points [1] which consists of:
1. vv. 1.3 points exclamation is rhetoric, proclaiming a message of urgency today and "amazement the revolt of the nations. "[2]
2. vv. 6.4 is the answer to the Lord, a prophetic voice. Lord and King are one.
3. vv. 9.7 says the contents of the decree of the Lord - the achievement of its affiliation with the whole field today. (The Lord may punish King David but will never deny it.)
- "Ask Me" in the c. 8 seems to suggest a possibility of law and royal justice (ie obedience the laws of the Lord).
4. vv. 12/10 - the ultimatum was issued! All kings and governors should now land, the king, the Messiah appointed.
Comments: dig deeper, what is said?
Psalm 2 is quoted often in the NT, because the demand of Jesus prooftext as the Messiah. Linking the child and the Messiah (the king of God) in the same place - the only case in the Old Testament. [3], and often closely associated to Ps One as an introduction to the Psalms. [4]
Eaton [5] suggests that there is no change of speaker in Psalm 2. King David speaks the first and third. The intention of his speech is a warning. Mays suggests Psalm 2 is a "poetic speech by the Messiah." [6]
"The king spoke as part of the enthronement." Anointing (v. 2), installation (v. 6), standing (v. 7) and empowerment (V. 9) point to this context. It is within this context that the king speaks to the world. [7]
Perhaps part of an "annual report or renewal his enthronement. "In this context of 'festival', Ps Two characteristics of the" final phase of this tragedy "and is closely linked to where Ps 110 series feature. It seems to play the monologue after the battle. [8]
There are some, however, that the support and used before the battle. is to say, "before the ritual fighting." [9]
Psalm combines the king and the sovereign Lord of roles in a "sovereignty fully unified. "This" projected on a big imagination, in a dramatic way. "
The rites of enthronement King, as in Psalm 2 were very dramatic, ritual, seasonal (probably in autumn festival), and reflects the influence of other cultures (Egyptian, Hittite, Mesopotamia) as well.
Strength is the key issue in the last part of the psalm, "obey or else the catchcry. Only when the Lord was angry against the challenge so complete, that responds that way.
"The thesis of the psalm is the Messiah ... the Son of God [is given] the right and power to rule the world ... by the ruler of heaven. "[10]
