Have you ever needed a refuge, a place to hide from the storm?
Our small boat was heading straight for a wind of 50 MPH. My friend and I went fishing in a small lake in the Midwest. We had a motor on the little bass boat with two men. All we had were the trains. The two rows with all our forces trying to regain the shore.
We are ready to give up and let the wind takes us back in reverse. Then we found refuge. Rama in a stream. Trees and hills block the wind to keep rowing and do the little boat to go where we needed to go. Were healthy and sound.
Many times in life you will find the strong headwind. You face storms everywhere. You lose a job. You lose a expensive. Someone breaks your heart. So how do you find refuge in the storms of life?
Psalm 9:9-10 tells you how to find this accommodation:
"The Lord is a refuge for the oppressed, a refuge in times of crisis, and who know your name will trust in you (KJV). "
God is your refuge and strength, if you seek and ask for help. I can not explain exactly how it will work in all their daily lives. Everyone has different problems and different responsibilities. All I can do is show his promise to be their refuge. He has the wisdom, power and strength to help at the right time.
The refuge of the word in this passage literally means "A safety height." Imagine you are facing an army of enemies. You're on the battlefield alone. But at the last minute, a prince of God descends and you leads to a high tower. This tower is stronger and invincible. This is exactly the image they have in Psalm 9:9-10. Whatever your challenge is now it will be your refuge, your high tower.
God has been the refuge of Abraham, Moses, Jacob, Joseph, Daniel, King David, and countless other believers. Why is it not the same protection and secretly for you? Just ask, and then it will help for the love of your Son Jesus Christ.
And do not forget to publicly thank their God when he became his refuge. The Psalmist continues saying he praised and worshiped God for refuge and strength than ever. Do not take for granted God. Look it up, get help, then I thank him with all your strength.
