I was often reprimanded for being a "saint" because they have never ceded to machines or under any other form of casino gambling. For me, there is nothing sacred about the practice because it is not my style and I'm just not interested.
In Luke 6:20-31, Jesus gives us guidelines for what could be considered as the realization of a saint. Just when you adjust to love our neighbors (those who know or do not know that those who do or do not care, and those who do or do not share our values), Jesus tells us to love our enemies. And, as I know you and I resist such a request and asked rhetorically: "Who are my enemies? "He said only: "Be kind to those who hate you" (Luke 6:27 b, CEV).
Everyone? Those who hate me? Are you serious? I can not stay away from them? No, if I profess to follow Christ. Jesus said: "If you're good to someone like for you, God be pleased with you for this? Even sinners are nice people that are good for them "(Luke 6:33, NIV). Not only do we love those we consider worthy of being loved, but we must give those who are unable or unwilling to return the favor! (Luke 6:29,30) What strikes us when it hurts in the pocket. Indeed, the cost of discipleship is high. The course is not for the weak of mind or the faint of heart. Jesus comes in a short sermon, turned our world upside down. And the sleeve flip frantically told him: "Sir, this is not the way which is supposed to work. So that we can carry out this mandate, we must have the patience of a. .. holy! "
Well, not that Christ calls? "God showed how much he loved us by having Christ died for us while we were yet sinners" (Romans 5:8, NIV). He wants us to change sinners into saints, and therefore calls us to a life of holiness. As Christians, we struggle daily with issues of discipleship. How to follow the precepts of the Bible, however, to live everyday life in a heartless world? How to stay above the fray that pushes us to you deliver the "eye for an eye" proverbial (or literal!)? We must cling to the words of the Bible that says the apostle Paul, "The Spirit you wise and will help you understand what it is to know God "(Ephesians 1:17 b, CEV)
How can we know God? And What about the knowledge of God makes us different? Knowing God is to listen, believe and accept the good news of God's salvation. When we truly know God, the Holy Spirit works in us should not feel obliged to ask God to bless those who curse us, but do voluntarily. When we know God, we know in our heart and are willing to "shouting the praises of the Lord" and "sing a new song of praise "(Psalm 149:1, CEV).
When the Spirit of God works in us, we become new creatures in Christ, the light flood our hearts and we understand that gives us hope that God chose us (Ephesians 1:18). As God is about making saints who chooses ordinary people and gives them extraordinary gifts "so that their people learn to serve and grow solid body" (Ephesians 4:12, NIV).
While we continue in obedience to the commandments God, we walk to holiness, a company of believers who honor God and bless his name. About Us perfect? No, but we strive to be good and merciful forgiving as Jesus taught. And when we fail to remember that If we confess our sins, God can always be trusted to forgive us and take our sins "(1 John 1:9 b, CEV) in its quest to become saints.
