Songs Choruses

Songs for teaching may contribute to the great question of how to motivate their students. The songs are funny, help relax the environment class, to integrate reading and listening skills and, in general, are welcome! When students see a teacher entering the classroom with a tape in hand, suddenly very motivated to learn, especially when it comes to teaching English language second.

Ideally, teaching the songs followed a traditional lesson plan. Because they incorporate both skills reading and music teachers of ESL can weave these skills into their lesson plans. Of course, this lesson plan is not exhaustive.

Tutorial (pre)

Teaching should include an objective for listening songs. It is for the teacher to create this effect. Here are some ideas for first lessons on teaching the song.

1. See a work of art as an example for teaching the song "Starry, Starry Night" as a lead-in.

2. Ask students to imagine what would the world be like in twenty or thirty years as a springboard for the song "Imagine" John Lennon. Collect written responses on the map.

3. Give students the basic vocabulary of the song and asked them to predict what the song might be about.

The time came to play the song. Make sure the song was recorded on a tape of good quality. Using CDs are ultimately much better. Have clear copies of the source large enough. When choosing a song you like, keep singing this cushion, the words and select age-appropriate themes and lyrics. Use an attractive design to improve the visual aspect of your lesson plan.

Listening to the song itself is at the heart activity main. Listen to the song at least twice.

Below is the main activity of a few ideas:

1. each word Remove seventh or more to create a cloze activity. Depending on the level of your students, you can insert a word bank.

2. Introduce students to the track with a score of errors. Have students circle the errors. Depending on the level, you could ask them to correct errors or to give them a word bank and you choose the right word.

3. Give students strips of paper envelopes. Ask them to read and, if possible, place the sentence strips in the right order. (The chorus should be in a section) Students check their answers during and after listening to the song.

4. Bingo song. Ask students to elect nine words of the song. Is marked with an X when they hear the word sung.

Lesson Finishing (Post)

1. Students must write their own "imagined" from the John Lennon song "Imagine". Encourage them to share with the rest of the class.

2. Students prepare a memory game based on the words they learned the song.

3. Students can reflect on how the song is felt and jot down ideas or feelings by chance during a class discussion more.

The most important thing is to have fun !
