Among my many hobbies linquistic is the word "abundance". Besides the fact it is so pervasive use in New Age circles, that bothers me really, is so prevalent in association with spirituality. Often implicit and sometimes implicitly indicates that the abundance of wealth = spirituality - in other words, the more you are richer, more spiritual than it should be, because the Universe (He-niverse) has blessed you with riches. I can not even begin to describe how the concept is inconsistent for me.
I just received my regular newsletter Integral Life. Integral Life is the official website of Ken Wilber. I have a few minor problems with KW, mostly once fired Walt Whitman as a "mystic of nature" which, according Wilber is a lower order of enlightenment. Clearly did not read Song of Myself. That said, it is often very interesting videos and discussions on its website, so keep checking from time to time. The following quote appeared in his newsletter this week alone:
Take a company requires conscious decisions MomentMaking can see and understand their relationship with money, a point of view considers the abundance as an opportunity to change the default instead of seeing scarcity and lack. Take a quick tour of his own relationship with money:
- Have you not a scarcity mentality, where a persistent thought of not having money from her tight stomach? Perhaps his "voice survival is dominant?
- Do you have a mentality of progress, where the idea of having a lot of money made his pale face with the vision, ultimately, peace of mind? Maybe your voice accumulation is dominant?
- Have you not a mentality of abundance, Hence the idea of having enough money to live comfortably makes your heart open? Perhaps his "voice of the sufficiency is dominant?
Now the truth is that everyone has all these voices, feelings and operational capacity in us all the time. But keep in mind the voice that speaks to you more. When you feel stressed (survival) or greedy (accumulation), sense of openness that comes when you relax in abundance, while maintaining the confidence that you can always survive, you always have the opportunity to flourish. That does not leave you. And never will ever.

Thinking in "abundance" naturally led me to think about "positive thinking", another concept that I find it annoying sometimes. I wrote about it impossible to think of something positive to write about positive thinking a couple of weeks. When I arrived in this block, which hit five points in a record time for a client after reading the life of Norman Vincent Peale, author of the Bible positive thinkers The Power of Positive Thinking, a book I have ever read. His personal story has really made the concept to life for me. Head space in my language staff, positive thinking is what makes him yourself trying to do when he is not thinking positively and have been in denial about it. It was something that some people who preached on a lot of money and has cost many people a lot of money learning. Although I still think it's often true, I can see the positive side of the expression. Why throw the baby out with the bathwater?
I was asked to provide a pair of positive thinking quotes on each item, I went looking for them. To my surprise, once I had opened my mind to think positively about positive thinking, I was really inspired. I can not play my articles in full here, because I sold, but I can provide some of the quotes I used. One of the titles of articles I have been to include the keyword "heal the world. "I quoted Martin Luther King and Mahatma Gandhi in this article. He had this to say:
Martin Luther King: "Almost always, the creative dedicated minority has made the world a better place. "
Gandhi: Â "Be the change you want to see in the world. "
Both Gandhi and King was assassinated for his efforts, but live on as an inspiration for change positive. Both of them also stressed the importance of individual effort. Individuality and creativity are not necessarily selfish. In fact, perhaps the ego that stands between us and the true individuality and creativity. The most "spiritual" (Another word that has a problem with) the people I met were real people. Think about it for a while. I'm going because I just happened.
Now that I see them again, instead of writing a negative rant about them, I wanted to write a positive comment on the abundance and positive thinking. You have to admit, it's better have a positive outlook on life than negative and the shortage is something we can all do no. However, this picture of Norman Vincent Peale stand before the Stars and Stripes United States still makes me cringe. Positive thinking must be global, not personal or patriotic. What I found was the source of my problem with it. popular psyche and a passion for others to do the the most horrible things. "Yes, I'll kill a communist [or" terrorists "if it wishes] to Christ!" not positive thinking.
