The Chronicles of Narnia, a series of seven books for children by CS Lewis, reveals a world that exists parallel to ours, peopled by men and women, dwarves and talking animals, giants and mermaids people, centaurs and fauns, and ruled by a species, but surprisingly ferocious and gigantic lion named Aslan. Lewis, who died the same day as John F. Kennedy, 22 November 1963, he combined the three passions of his life - classical mythology medieval tradition and philosophy of basic Christian - to create in Narnia a microcosm of the moral struggles our own world is facing.
Characters and plot
With Aslan himself, the heroes of the Narnia books are the four Pevensie siblings, Peter, Susan, Edmund and Lucy. Taken away from home in London to avoid the Nazi bombings, are discussed with a teacher of school age in his home on the trails in the country.
While playing cat and mouse, Lucy, the youngest 8 years old hiding in a closet full of racks of coats. Reaching to avoid detection, she pushes her way past the coats, waiting to strike against the bottom of the cabinet at any time. Lucy feels rather the branches of trees, hear the crunch of snow at his feet and see the glow in the distance from a lamppost as she had seen several Once back in London.
This marks the beginning of the adventures of four children, "many of Narnia. Each of the books, but connected to each other, you can be alone. Over time we learned that the pole light has come and how the closet has become a portal. We also learn more Aslan on, what it takes to be his friend, and his enemies.
The profound
For those who know her research Lewis Narnia has not only filled with interesting characters, scenery, and exciting action, but also with Christian allegory. Aslan represents Jesus Christ himself, "the Lion of the Tribe of Judah" (Apocalypse 7:14). The Pevensie children eventually become fluent in Narnia who consider as their homeland and the world as the place where the visitors. Lewis, in his books on Christian apologetics, describes the spiritual world there are parallel for the physicist, having the quality of being without shadow and no substance in relation to the physical, but more real, more colorful, and much, much more vivo.
As Paul explains,
... Many live as enemies of the cross of Christ. Their destiny is destruction, their god is belly, and glory is their shame. His mind is in earthly things. But our citizenship is in heaven. And we look forward to a Savior from there, the Lord Jesus Christ .... - Philippians 3:18-20 (see also Hebrews 11:13-16).
The Disney
First Book seven, The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe, is now the subject of a film produced by Walt Disney Pictures and Walden Media and directed by Andrew Adamson. At the time the climax of history is a sacrifice of great photos of Lewis on the death of Christ.
If you go the cinema to see the breaking of the stone table, which symbolizes how the death and resurrection of Christ meant the end of the law of Moses by fulfilling their requests for cleanse the blood. Also look at the role of Susan and Lucy play in the testimony of death and rebirth of Aslan, which corresponds to the woman's historical role played as participants in Jesus' death and burial, and as the first witnesses of his resurrection.
Professor Peter and Susan can sort of how to receive the testimony of Lucy Narnia: if it is a liar and he is not crazy, then, logically, should tell the truth. This corresponds Jesus gave testimony about their own identity, and witness His next was around him - what Lewis described elsewhere as the trilemma Jesus is Lord, liar or a fool?
Another important parallel is: faithful to Aslan play an important role in the fight against the White Witch. As our spiritual warfare, Christ assures victory late, but asks its supporters to participate personally in the struggle. For passage relevant to this conflict, see Ephesians 6:10-18, 2 Corinthians 10:3-5, 1 Timothy 1:18-20, 1 Timothy 6:12 and 2 Timothy 4:7).
Plans are of six more films to follow this first, in which the rest of the Narnia story develops. If they are so faithful to the books, well designed and produced as it was, in all of us fans irreducible Lewis as a welcome introduction to a world of Narnia tired. We hope that viewers will understand and appreciate the allegorical features as far as the history of surface. The goal is not only about Aslan and Narnia, but to become your friend always and live in his kingdom forever.
