What scares me is the fear of the fundamentalists and control issues, and to judge others. Instead of seeing the good in people, these insecure people prefer to see the dark side of a person. We are not perfect people, because we live in a world imperfect. That's what makes us human. We work in our imperfections with the hope that one day we aspire to something greater than the sum total of ourselves.
My favorite example is people who judge others as evil because of different religious beliefs. What happened the first amendment, which establishes the right of religious choice? Jerry Falwell, Franklin Graham and Pat Robertson revealed his ignorance when attacked Islam and said God as a false god. If were content to proclaim the truth of his understanding of Christianity.

The Christians who take the Bible literally are either self-delusion or ignorance. The conversion is the responsibility of other people, I am responsible for myself. Desire clarity and guidance in a changing world is what breeds fundamentalists. It is easier to know the truth they seek. We grow threw learning, unlearning, and change. The search for religious truth is an ongoing process.
true religion challenges the intellect as people wrestle with the mystery life (why Why I'm here, what was I supposed to do) and the challenges of living in an imperfect world. Conversely, blind obedience is a sign some of the corrupt religion. true religion encourages questions and reflection at all levels. support doctrinal positions of unethical behavior contrary must always be challenged. Intellectual freedom, personal integrity and common sense are essential to true religion as well.
Humans are responsible for their own behavior. What do you do during your time on earth is connected to a better understanding of life. We must focus on the principles of justice, honesty, compassion and humility.
