Today I'm joined by Scott Ginsberg, aka "The Guy identification tag." Scott is the author of three books, professional speaker, and the only person in the world that uses a badge 24-7. His blog is a daily reading of the mine.
Benjamin: How to Transition between "a guy with a label with your name" to a successful speech and business writing?
Scott: When I started to use an identification card 24-7 to the university, a journal of observations, stories and responses, but it seemed that it would be a great book. As I always wanted to be a writer, I decided to write. I asked other authors and free publication, researched and put the book when I graduated. When my website and the book was picked up by media people started asking me to make speeches. As he had always forbidden to speak, he felt like a good fit. I did more research on industry-related talks some amazing mentors, has done much research and talk for free, and, finally, managed to maintain the same author / Speaking. Hey, he did took three years to earn money!
B: How did you remember?
S: Well, take this pill call ... joke! I would say learning to be single is no different. In other words, not only as support, but being alone.
B: has built Web 2.0 applications in self-promotion?
S: Well, I did not use! I have two blogs that update regularly. Also podcast, use social networks online like MySpace, Flickr and Squidoo, and the use of widgets on my site to talk to people live. Basically, all the best I Web 2.0 use. And it's great. It builds community, I can live and breathe the brand, the fans stay ahead of the market itself and the unity of daily traffic. 100% of my business is word of mouth (word of mouth), I've never made a cold call from my life and I do not (or never) spend a penny on advertising. Key lesson: If you're remarkable, you'll find.
B: What are the barriers or benefits from that age itself as a speaker and writer?
S: My Gosh that sucks. still does. Who the hell is going to hear a child of 26 years to a speech, right? However, I learned something called "The Audition" disarmament concern, in which the direction of the obvious barrier first and explain why there is a problem. For example, I open my speech with a quote Indiana Jones, saying: "It's not the years, is the mileage." Also, I just go out and be myself and try to give a value, and generally people forget that I'm young. After all, some 26 years has written three books and speaking internationally. That must count for something! If all else fails, just show people the picture of me in Ripley's Believe or not. It is always useful;) However, youth is also a great advantage because it offers a new and fresh, uncontaminated by the prospect of a society worldwide. That people love.
B: Is it difficult being a professional speaker, while most of his countrymen 40 years older than you?
S: Yes, it is difficult because people do not take you seriously, but glorious at the same time, allowing you to be a bed. They do not see coming!
B: How do I write a book?
S: Okay. No, just kidding. I'll buy the book by Dan Poynter "The Self Publishing Manual." Is this the best in the business and can help you more than me. It's my bible, outside the Bible.
B: How to start getting media coverage?
S: Man, I have no idea. I met the right person at the right moment spent my information a journalist who launched a massive snowball effect I have every radio, television and print output in the country. I do not call not that lucky, because if my idea is not surprising that I interviewed. I never "released" before the half. I think the key is: their appeal. Be incredible and unforgettable and extraordinary, unique and fresh, and you will find. Oh, and it helps to be fun. And if possible, smart. I'm still working on it;)
